Hit it on the head. DOT4 brake fluid is 100% silcone.

From one of many hits: SynLube DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid

Ummm, No...

DOT 4 is not silicone. It is often a high performance synthetic that is compatible with DOT 3.

DOT 5 is silicone and is not compatible with other brake fluids.

Just going by the website - it says it's DOT 4 is 100% silicone.

Edit - but a whole lot more websites say you're right, that it is the DOT 5 that is silicone.

My bad. Thanks for the correction. :thumb: Shame on me for hitting just the first one.

Uwatec is just another brand to choose from. If there was another brand out there that out feature and/or out performance Uwatec for my specific needs. I will change brand in a heart beat.
I do not drink that Uwatec kool-aid. Get over it.

Truth to be said - if that uwatec trade-in promo was all that. Perhap anyone looking for new uwatec should pickup an old/dead uwatec for almost nothing from craigslist/ebay so they can trade it in for 40% off a new uwatec.

Only for the original owner and I'm sure it's not an official "promo", they just tend to standby their products and customers. My Air Z now has a brand new sending unit with user replaceable batteries. They replaced it even though it was years out of warranty.

Curious to know: what viscosity did you order, and how did you decide on that weight?

I ordered "re-packaged" DC-200 for use as dashpot fluid. I'll let you know what viscosity it is when it arrives (3-5 days).

This material seems to be cheapest of the line and appears to be in very common use. It appears that the water repellency is similar for this entire product line. Molecular weight (chain length) is the primary determining factor for viscosity. There shouldn't be any real cause for water to push past the seal as the rubber back of the Uwatec prevents any real pressure differential so I'm not too worried about viscosity.

Hello all!

An old thread, but I give it a try..

I am DIY changing the battery.

Can anyone confirm what oil exactly is used in Uwatec Aladin Pro?

Can anyone confirm they successfully replaced the oil, computer reads correctly the depth and has been working since (as of now - 10+ years)?

Thank you!

Thank you so much for an answer! I have been looking for it for quite long! :)

Now when I google "Elbesil B20 Aladin" I find several DIY pages naming the same Elbesil B20 oil. I will give it a try.

Thank you!
