Good afternoon...

I recently acquired an UWATEC Smart Z dive computer....both the watch and transmitter batteries are DOA.....

My dive shop told me it would cost about $150 to send back to Scuba Pro for battery replacement....

My question...

Is this something I can do myself or should attempt to do myself?

I know I have the mechanical ability to attempt this...but maybe not the technical....

Thoughts?

The Smart Z may need a software reset when the battery is changed. Only Scubapro can reset it.

I was afraid you were going to say that.

Should I attempt it though?

Seriously, whats the worse that can happen....besides me utterly destroying it?

I can't tell you whether to attempt it ...

There are some old SB threads here on what's involved, including problems with fried DCs, if you do a search.

I looked....didnt find anything overly particular to my model.

"I can't tell you whether to attempt it ..."

I know...and thats the best response.

Thank you for the info though.
