Oops you’re him. Report the thread if you feel it strayed, though I imagine much of what followed is useful for someone in your position or similar.
actually why I left it running.... YEP :) I'm him... I don't mind one conversation turning into another one but I get annoyed when people don't fully read posts and respond to something out of context and that is starting to happen more as the thread gets longer... its not their fault the length is detrimental.

That was meant for Ken.. and was a NAUI cave1 question...

Who says my computer can do gradient factors?
And yet you mentioned Tec 40 guidelines which isn't NAUI, which was the bulk of my post. Tec 40 limitations have been confused in the past by others (including yourself up thread regarding actual deco), so I was trying to be helpful. My mistake. Regarding conservatism, I had hoped it would be obvious to apply as your computer dictates.

Your thread, your rules. I'll bow out.

I"m sorry... I don't see how you can be correct in that statement. I followed the Tec-40 section page by page and it did not end at page 129.
You are correct and my statement was wrong. It is Tec 40 Knowledge Development One that ends at Emergency Procedures II, Tec Exercise 2.6 On Page 129

Are you reading the manual “page by page” or are you following the Manual Supported Content sections listed at the start of each knowledge development segment? That is the craziness with the current Tec 40/45/50 curriculum. You don’t read the entire Tec Deep Manual from start to finish…you read the manual sections identified in the Independent Study Assignments. While there is nothing wrong with reading the Tec Deep Manual from start to end, the manual content does not follow the Tec 40/45/50 curriculum. A better way of stating it is that the Tec Deep Manual provides supplemental information to the Tec 40/45/50 hand outs and study assignments, the hand outs and study assignments are not supplementing the Tec Deep Manual.

Example for Knowledge Development One…

The only manual content used is listed below. The page order skips around and you are not reading every page from xi to 129.

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs xi, pg xiii Your Obligations and Responsibilities, pg xiv Diver Accident Insurance, pg 1-9 including Tec Exercise 1.1. Disregard Tec Deep and Apprentice Tec Diver Certification Limits discussions. You may skip question 6 in the exercise.

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs 84-87, Oxygen Compatibility Review, Manufacturer Warranties and Hyperoxic Gases

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs 35-50, Gas Planning I, Tec Exercise 1.3

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs 51-54, Team Diving I, Tec Exercise 1.4

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs 54-59, Techniques and Procedures I, Tec Exercise 1.5, pgs 107-109, Team Diving Gas Handling Considerations,
Tec Exercise 2.4 questions 4-8, pgs 115-122, Techniques and Procedures III,
Tec Exercise 2.5

Manual Supported Content
Study assignment: Tec Deep Diver Manual, pgs 60-64, Emergency Procedures I, Tec Exercise 1.6, pgs 123-129, Emergency Procedures II, Tec Exercise 2.6

I was doing Tec-40 so I was reading the Tec-40 section....all the way down to the dives for Tec-40 which state simulated. on dive 4 and 5.

There is no Dive 5 in Tec 40 and the dives you are reading are not in the Tec 40 curriculum. I guess you still have not identified the Tec Derp Manual content from the Tec 40 components. Probably best for you to get with your instructor.

Yes but will the instructor fill those AL40s to 3000psi?!??

There are 5 dives listed in the tec-40 section of the manual....dives 3, 4 and 5 ALL say simulated deco. If they are not a part of Tec-40, WHY are they in the Tec-40 section?? and I don't mean like the last page of it either.

This is Training dive 6, which is in the Tec-45 section of the manual.... it is ALSO simulated...

Then Dive 7 in Tec-45 ALSO simulated....

DIve 8, ALSO simulated...

Dive 9, SIMULATED

DIVE 10 is into the Tec-50 realm... (10, 11 and 12 ARE decompression dives)

NO WHERE through Tec-45 did I find an ACTUAL decompression dive.

Sorry, I don't like posting all the clips... but not exactly sure how to make my point.... Everything in the PADI manual through Tec-45 states simulated. If that is NOT the case then PADI needs to change their manual. I build expectations on the class based on the manual. I mean it is one thing if an instructor wants to exceed the requirements... but if they are all actual deco dives then it needs to be stated.

It may be as simple as the dive does not warrant that decompression time, if any, but you will simulate that it does and do the decompression as if it did. In the initial step it says follow the instructors directions, not that the dive would need any actual decompression. If you screw the pooch on decompression, it's much safer if you don't actually need it.

It's such a pity that PADI can't be bothered to post anything meaningful on their public facing website. You know, like course specifications, outline, something useful than a bunch of poorly written marketing crap.

So is it OK to have HP oxygen if we simulate they are at 2400psi?Asking for the guy that drove the 4500 psi bottles of 02 and helium down to the Keys from Jacksonville in the trunk of his car on a hot August day for me a few years ago.
