At the end, using your work computers and internet to do your own personal work is like taking your work tool box with the tools home to work on your house or car, it ain't right.
Ahhhhhh. My work tool box is my own. Bought and paid for.
Why can't I take it home to work?

Why doesn't someone that knows something about the right codecs just figure it out... and give a link...
That's how it will get fixed....
Doesn't matter if it's an older computer, the files it needs is out there somewhere...
Kinda like say and old cars can't drive on new roads. Or vice versa

VLC supports that codec and is free.

Not really their fault. They are using a technology that is prime for its use but by the video professionals, not by BBQ enthusiasts.
You are sooooo wrong. Go Pro is marketing their cameras to sports enthusiasts and regular consumers. If the quality of the camera is suitable for "video professionals" that is fine, but that is NOT their market and it sux when a "normal" recreational user can not readily edit the videos from the new camera - especially when it was EASY on version 8 model. Consumers should beware.

VLC definitely does NOT work. did the latest updates

also spoke to a guy today at a dive shop and he said he has heard from a professional user whose company bought 10 new Go Pro 10's and 8 would overheat and shut down and not start after 5 minutes of underwater video. This is third hand info, but I wish I would have heard it a few weeks ago.

The regular consumer is generally expected just to use the Quik App on their phone. Computer ownership, particularly among the GoPro target demographic, is quite low.

I linked the correct codec for Windows, it is 99 cents. Mac OS works fine.

Unless they are in extremely hot water that is unlikely as I was doing 5 minutes of video with my GP10 in 84 degree water. And Blueworld did a test in 68 degree water and it lasted 33 minutes.

Well that sucks. Will run a test this week myself and see what gives.

OP, have you tried contacting the company behind powerdirector? If you can play the videos using another media player on the same machine then it sounds like an issue with the software…

Received my GP 10. Took 3 days. All good for me. Ordered the Retail Bundle option, came with SanDisk 32GB A1 card, Protective Housing, Dual Battery Charger c/w battery, and Polaroid Dive 3 Pack. Did the update as requested- small issue - it failed part way thru - had a battery installed and plugged in. Got quite warm and think it wasn’t happy with the battery strength even though I had it plugged in during the update. Patiently waited for my battery to charge and the the update worked great.

I have chose to use my ScanDisk 128GB A2 card. A2 has faster read write abilities.

Will do some video on 5K and see how it uploads to my Mac.
