I just bought the OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 Red Underwater Camera. I had a Go Pro Hero 4 but it is 9 or 10 years old. I bought a Go Pro Hero 12 but after having issues getting the battery into the battery compartment and shutting it (had to return two because it kept getting jammed) I just bought the OM SYSTEM Tough TG-7 Red Underwater Camera. I Also bought the PT-059 Underwater Camera Housing. I was wondering if you had suggestions for lenses that I can use for it? I don't really want to invest a lot more yet. I will think about strobes but I only dive once or twice a year (5 dives) each usually. Does anyone have any suggestions on filters or other accessories I should get? Strobes and the filters for the strobes are later. I was wondering if there were any filters that I could add to the housing (like Backscatter has for the Go Pro Hero 12). Thanks

If you have fewer than 25 dives as your profile mention, I would respectfully suggest focusing on buoyancy control first. Using a camera requires a different set of skills compared to GoPro systems, where you typically just hit record and point. A camera demands precise buoyancy to get close to reefs and often requires unusual positioning to capture the right shot.

If you’ve already figured out your buoyancy, I’d recommend the M52 Air Lens from Backscatter—it’s a great all-around option that allows you to shoot both macro and fish portraits.

Happy diving!

It depends on what you want to shoot. There are lenses for more wide angle but the camera really is designed for macro stuff. What do you want to shoot?
