Why aren't they naming these boats? Because of the incident and now cause covid, I never go into the bunk areas anymore

Not Sundiver based on the age of the vessel in the article. Sundiver was built in 1991 the vessel in Long Beach was described as being built in 1969.

It was Explorer, and her violations were outrageous. As stated in the USCG write up.

"A vessel must be operated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and in such a manner as to afford adequate precaution against hazards that might endanger the vessel and the persons being transported. Deficiencies 2-5 provide objective evidence that the vessel is substandard and not pro-actively managing technical and operational requirements. Vessel must complete a satisfactory Expanded Annual inspection prior to any movement."

This is the equivalent of getting your butt stomped. I can't imagine a worse write up. Especially if you read deficiencies 2-5.

No flares, insufficient life jackets, documentation expired, no flares, the list goes on and on - and perhaps worst of all considering the events on Conception

"At each inspection for certification and at every other vessel inspection all observed unsafe practices, fire hazards, and other hazardous situations must be corrected and all required guards and protective devices must be in satisfactory condition. Vessel used daisy chained power strips and an extension cord to power vital systems on the bridge including GPS, modem for security, freezer, monitor, cell phone charger, and multi-recharge station for radios. 46 CFR 176.830(a)"
