Is there any way to guarantee that one would be able to remain outside on the ferry during the crossing? Briefly being inside for boarding/stowage is fine.

guarantee? NO, but there is plenty of room outside. Get in line early or wait for the next one.

The Canadian guidelines require a 2 week quarantine after a trip abroad. If I go to Cozumel for 2 weeks I will have to use up 4 weeks of my vacation time since quarantine under these conditions will not be covered under paid sick leave I guess I will have to stay home for a while longer.

@P-Dog, I am glad you enjoyed Coz enough to return so soon. It's a long trip from Hawaii. I am interested in your thoughts about why Coz compared to other dive destinations that may be closer to you. (I have no clue what other dive destinations you can travel to from HI and their relative distances.)

I really enjoyed the genuine friendliness of Cozumel. The American tourists were friendly. The Mexican staff members were friendly. It didn't feel as though it was just to garner tips. Where I live, many of the resort staff are friendly for tips and are not like that in real life.

Honestly, nothing is located close to Hawaii. It's a bit of a pill to go anywhere. I do LOVE Fiji diving. It has the most beautiful coral I've ever seen and there are sharks on nearly every single dive. To go there I have to fly an hour to Honolulu and then it is a 6 1/2 hour flight to Nadi, Fiji. There is usually a stop of an hour or so on one of the remote islands in the Pacific to drop off/pick up passengers. Then there is a drive of two or three hours out to the coral coast.

When I went to Okinawa, Japan they had a typhoon the day before I arrived, so no diving. I haven't been to Thailand since 1995, but again, you fly to Bangkok, travel down the coast by bus and take a boat to an island. Now that Thailand is more built up than 25 years ago, it's probably simple now to travel there, but I don't think the reefs are as nice.

I'd like to go to Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Ningaloo Reef in Australia, but haven't made it there yet.

Right now, Mexico is allowing Americans to visit, so Cozumel it is! Egypt is also allowing Americans in, so that' is booked for April. :)

I think he had a long stay in Las Vegas at the time, and you know going back to Hawaii is an experience one doesn't want to repeat with their quarantines required and sternly enforced. I think. This catch-all thread is challenging.

Can you link to some of the other threads? That would make it easier for people to find the ones that are more appropriate for their posts.

This is the first forum I have ever joined and I'm still learning my way around. If I'm posting in the wrong place I'm doing it unintentionally, but agree that all these posts on different subjects in one place is confusing.

If you click Cozumel at the top of the page, you'll see a list of threads to browse as well as a button to start a new thread.

I might ask the Moderator to close this thread and encourage everyone to start new ones on various subjects.

Ah, come on. I want to see it go to 100 pages.
