Diving in caves is such a serious matter... or is it? Over and over I see the lighter side of cave divers and the fun they have. Things like Godzilla and Mrs Godzilla at Madison Blue, or all the decorations left in the Bat Cave in Ginnie are a part of our shenanigans. Let's get some pictures up so the rest of the world can see we have a sense of humor.

I understand that lighter side of cave diving you want to show people, but I would urge you to give it some thought. There is a past negative history that has had a negative impact on cave diving. When ever there is graffiti in the springs the park will ask for some restoration information, because they know graffiti will facilitate more graffiti. The things like Godzilla, and the Bats have been accepted landmarks, but there was an era where people escalated things, so we had Barbie, sex toys, statues, signs attached to the line being held up by air in milk jugs. It went from cute landmarks, to cave junk, and each person wanted to out do the other, so cave junk multiplied. Then games started like hide the mask, and move it to another location,which was being buried in silt, and stuck in very sensitive pile of goethite. The question you have to ask is providing an avenue and encouraging pictures, will this stop at current landmarks, or will we go back to one upmanship. As cave divers, we are supporters of a sensitive ecosystem that is poorly understood, and part of our access is contingent on us taking care of it, and showing respect.

This thread is not just about "pranks". It's about the fun, camaraderie and yes, the shenanigans we have when we cave dive. Mistakes, jokes and what not are all a part of it. No one posting in here is going to take it too far, but we refuse to not have fun.

Hehehehe. That is funny. If there was racism, I can see your point. I may not be woke enough to have seen it. Mildly suprised the mods would have allowed it. Maybe it got deleted. Otherwise I thought your entire first sentence was the definition of shenanigans. Highfalutin joke lists are generally not all that funny. Reminds me of the 'S car go' scene in Trading Places.

it's shenanigans. If you knew the divers involved you'd know that we were all laughing and drinking beer. Kelly brings up a point about how it can get out of control, but tagging cookies is quite harmless

Holy crap if you’re being serious you really need to lighten up. Talk about a dildo equals porn? Take a breather or get off of the internet cause this is mild stuff.

People need to lighten up. All this need to constantly be politically correct is sad.

Diving is supposed to be fun. I remind people to have fun as often as I can. The shenanigans in this thread are mild as compared to the shenanigans I encountered when I was on submarines.
