I will take a pic with my phone when I get home after work.
It isn't a small speck, but I have no idea how much, if any, is acceptable.

I wasn't worried about it not being able to be repaired. I was wondering if it was common or if it would be easily missed during a rebuild- if it is usially taken care of during a rebuild.

I have been told this PX2 first stage is a solid reliable regulator. If it is serviceable i may just keep it and buy a couple of second stages.

it should never be missed during a rebuild. all parts should be fully inspected during disassembly, placed into the ultrasonic, and fully inspected prior to reassembly.

No significant salt deposits or corrosion should occur during normal use. You may get some salt deposits that look like corrosion if you don't take proper care of them if diving in salt water, but nothing that should cause permanent damage.

the PX2 is a fine first stage, but youa re unlikely to spend much more to buy a full regulator set that is matching vs. buying second stages

It due to poor rinsing after use in salt water and if just a little, it isn't an issue. It should be all cleaned up during service.

You should post a picture here for us to be able to see if it is something more serious.

I have purchased quite a few used and abused regulators and some corrosion is fairly common. It is not difficult to remove it but if the corrosion prevents disassembly or has caused pitting damage to sealing surfaces, then there is a possible problem. Having g dealt with over 100 used stages, I have yet to find one I could not return to service. I suspect your Oceanic reg is quite serviceable.

I have heard, from several different people, that the shop I took my regs to for service have a reputation for saying things aren'r repairable in order to make a sale.
It is possible that over a year and a half I could have cracked the plastic housing on my octo. I have no idea about the ring on the face of my second stage being broken.
I know I haven't had my regs in salt water, or even in a pool, so that corrosion was there when I bought the regs. I assume, and I really try to avoid assuming anything, but I assume that during a rebuild corrosion would be removed. At a minimum it would be mentioned.
