Hello Guy's,
What if any is the general feeling about ProDive Mexico over at the Allegro? Are they any good? There are many ops on Cozumel by the look and sound of things here. It seems so convenient to have an operator on the hotel site. All responses appreciated..
Most of the ops on the island can pick up at hotels south of town. No need to go with the on site op. There is one hotel that makes this a PITA but I forget which one.

O.K. Thank you, however the all inclusive deal is kinda attractive. After diving all day I just don't feel like having to go out for dinner down the street. How many All Inclusive deals do you know that offer discounts on tanks. Just wondering.....

Some like to go out, some like to eat in - different choices, all good. I find AI food to be boring, but convenient. If you want to eat and sleep at an AI, that's great, but has nothing to do with dive operator choices.

Your question was about inhouse ProDive. It can indeed be convenient for your dive op to have at least a desk at the hotel you sleep in. You can search ProDive for threads on this subforum and opinions.

Well, there wouldn't be a lot of places to eat down the street if you stay at the Allegra. I'm not an AI kinda gal (heck, I am a fussy foodie) but different strokes for different folks.

That would be Iberostar, they charge the non house ops exorbitant fees if they pickup from their dock.

Hotel Cozumel & Resort and their on-site dive op Dive Paradise may fit the bill.

Everything is ok. Not outstanding, but just fine for the price.

Big place, lotsa boats, close to downtown.

They have their own pier that you shore dive and get a refresher from as well.

Thanks all for your suggestions and tips! You all are A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

Based on your suggestions, I have been in touch with Tres Pelicanos, Blue Magic and Dive with Martin. Hope to sign up with one of them tomorrow.

I will be careful with ATMs. One question: how much should I pay for DAN dive insurance?

I do the Master plan which is $40 I believe, it carries a lot more perks vs. the standard plan. Good choices on shops, I'm a fan of Tres Pelicanos myself, and will be headed down in February for my 4th trip with them. As far as ATMs go, I avoid them by going to my local bank before leaving and just getting Pesos to take with me, only US dollar I use is when I'm paying my dive shop tab.

On our first Coz trip we soon started taking cabs to eat dinner in town. The AI Occidental food was awful.

Nothing like bellying up to a buffet with 500 of your closest Gringo friends before they hit the beach or pool to oil up and turn like hot dogs on a 7-eleven roller grill all day under the sun... They make cruise ships for that. Obviously, I'm not a fan of AI's which are just land-based cruise ships in my opinion but to each his own.
