I like those diver 'horns' you hook between your BC inflator and the BC . . . as long as it is used only for emergencies.
We had a diver and buddy on a night dive, who went too far and got caught in the current. The blast made the boat aware that they had surfaced on the other side of the rock outcropping. Otherwise, we might have been searching in the dark for a long time.
