More importantly no one has cooked for me all summer long...:scorned:

:shocked2: You have to go and prove me wrong!!! I miss you guys so much!! We haven't done any shore diving together this whole summer. Maybe the fall will be better.:kiss2:

The oil spill really cramped our style this year. Even Jason has been staying away from us. Things ARE getting better though.

I am so glad! Maybe we can dive at St Andrews during Vortoberfest and Jason better be there! You can't camp without him!

The potential body thing does not bother me so much as the new management. They do not seem to have near the desire to keep things straight as the last manager. I am getting tired of hearing stories of divers getting slapped on the head underwater by swimmers in the basin with the managements only response of "sorry". My students have enough to pay attention to without dealing with idiots that are not being kept in check.

I have talked to the new management and they were doing a great job, at least until this whole situation blew up. I stopped in there one Saturday and there was no swimmers in the dive area. Those stories you heard are probably that, just stories. I can assure you the new manager even want to improve the place and while I was the she was working her buttt off.

While there were was no diving last weekend, swimmers were pretty much a common theme in the basin.

That will suck if they start allowing that again.

Is there a swimming area and a diving area? How are they segregated?

The swimming area is the "down stream" side of the basin. It's shallower and better for swimming. Also that's where all the "swim slides", etc are... so it keeps them in that area.

Maybe there's a rope... never payed attention.

Let's get a few things straight here.
(1) The management at Vortex spring does not have an exclusive right to the spring basin or the spring run.
(2) There is nothing - as in *not a thing* - that management can do to prohibit swimmers from using the basin or otherwise "keep them in check." They can keep swimmers off their docks (which they own), and they can make the swimming areas more attractive, but they can't keep swimmers out of the spring basin where we dive. Note that the floating dock closest to the most popular training platform is not owned - or controlled - by Vortex.
(3) I don't like having to put up with swimmers around my divers either, but on the other hand, if I'm training divers to dive in the real world, swimmers are a fact of life. Might as well get the exposure under supervision.
(4) You could always take 'em to Morrison... :)
