One more point I would like to make
I used to have DAN's middle insurance plan (Master) thinking that if I go on a dive vacation I can always up it before I go.
My friend politely told me that was kinda foolish thinking because you can never know when you might need the most coverage they offer ... something could happen while doing an easy peasy dive in your own "back yard"... she is right and knows very well of what she speaks.
I changed it to Preferred ... saving that $35 dollars a year is not worth it

Thanks Mike, but I have to ask...

Did you ask if DAN would advance the money and settle later? That can be done for the chambers that do not accept DAN coverage upfront. Some do, some don't - true, but money can be wired.

Actually, Don, I never thought of that. I'll have to remember that, if God forbid, the need arises.
I did have to make a few, sometimes frustrating phone calls to get my credit card limit raised to a level that would cover the chamber rides( they wouldn't accept Amex)
take care,
Mike

Sometimes you have to prod them. Similar with ear barotrauma, in that their doc might tell you to see a physician - but not remind you to bill them for exam and meds.

But when you need a chamber ride is not the time for phone calls! I try to ask my dive op if their chamber accepts DAN coverage without payment, and that often is a $2/day support fee when diving, sometimes included - but I often forget.

I think both in Coz accept DAN without payment.

Okay,Okay, don't worry my wife and I have taken all the great advice. We will be in coz in two weeks, and we will be covered with the basic family plan and the preferred insurance plan also. thanks for the advice to all who responded. I knew that I could get the friendly push that I needed in the right direction. See you in coz.

I am pretty sure that the chamber support payment on Cozumel is a voluntary contribution and has no connection to any sort of insurance or chamber ride payment. I haven't heard of it in years; it used to be on the dive waiver paperwork, but there was some confusion among some divers who erroneously thought they were paying for daily insurance that would cover chamber rides.
