While I'm not 100% familiar with the operation of this particular inflator, I was mostly commenting on the people that take it out of their mouths.

Then you've been talking about operating a piece of equipment that you know very little about. Why don't you educate yourself on how the inline octo work and decide for yourself whether or not it's a hazard instead of blindly follow the advices of strangers on the internet?

I do like how this particular device is illegal in Israel though.

A lot of other things are also illegal in Israel but fine elsewhere too. So what's your point?

I think that one of the problems here is that these regulator/inflators were originally designed around jacket BC's. With a jacket BC, it you're even a little vertical, then your regulator will be higher than your air bladders and your BC can easily be vented without removing your reg. With a wing type BC or BP on the other hand, that's not necessarily the case. In that case, unless you raise the reg above your shoulders or roll over on your back it's not necessarily going to vent when you push the big button.

Source for this statement - Google yielded nothing.

Seriously, where do you get this from?

I use a BPW with the inline octo. It inflates and deflates just fine while I breath through it.

You do know that Dive Rite, one of the premiere technical diving equipment suppliers, have a version of the Air2 to work with their BPW, right?

They all work. The question is are you capable of operating your equipment?

So you can hover horizontally while breathing normally from your Air2 while dumping air from your BC? Of course this is with a wing and rear dump valves don't count. Just push the deflate button and you dump air from the bladder?

I can do it with my power inflator while breathing from my octo of course, but there's no way my old SeaQuest inflator/reg could have done that maneuver when hooked to a wing type BC.

Oh, the story just gets better.

Maybe I'm just thick or something, but it seems to me that in order to dump air with the inflator release button that the inflator itself has to be higher than the air in the bladder, otherwise the air will just sit there. Now if you're using a wing type bladder and you're hovering horizontal and breathing through your Air2, it's going to be lower than the air in your bladder and it's not going to be released when you push the button.

Now I suppose you could pull the hose taut and release air using the emergency dump, but that sounds like a good way to pull the reg out of your mouth.
