They began flocking yesterday. Flocking is adding chemicals that are suppose to attach to the particulate and make them heavier and sink to the bottom. This is suppose to be a pretty quick process and there is a good chance that we will be seeing an improvement by this weekend. I should have a report after someone gets in the water thsi weekend.

Hehe, I love fun words, and between "sparger", "flocculant", and the rest, it's *really* fun to talk about Mammoth Lake. :biggrin: (Imagine how boring it would be if they were just "bubblers" and "clumpers" instead... )

Everyone is still working very hard to have it open Saturday. There are a few things that are still questionable but there should be an email Wednesday or Thurdsday with a yea or na about the opening. I was in the water Yesterday morning with the best vis. I have seen. It was a true 15+ clear water. The Flouculant seems to me doing the trick. I have my camera in the truck and really wish I would have had it in the water cause I would really like to show how nice everything is looking.

Best of luck... The Baton Rouge contingent is poised and waiting to see whether we're going deep into the heart of Texas or taking a trip to the sweet home of Alabama. (I guess we'll just wing it...)

Sounds pretty nice. I can hardly wait to get over there to dive it. The tanks are full, the drysuits are... um... dry... Oh, forget it. It's too early in the morning to try to be entertaining. :biggrin:

i forgot to one important thing about yesterdays dive. The water is warming up and was 64 degree yesterday all the way down to 30'.

Mammoth Lake Scuba Park
DATE: Soon!
Mammoth Lake Scuba Park will not open to the public this Saturday, March 1 as anticipated. We still have things to do to make this the premier scuba destination you have been promised and expect. The visibility is exceeding 12', and the depth is where we want it. We still need to complete a few additional security measures.
We apologize for the delay, and look forward to seeing you soon.

Oh, *PLEASE*, let it be a two-week delay. I'm working a class next week, so if it's a one-week delay, I'll miss the opening day I've been planning (repeatedly ) for all these many months.

I just got an email stating the above so I am not sure of everything that is happening. There is a staff meeting tom. so maybe I will know more after that.

I will have to wait until June to visit and enjoy the park. June can't get here quick enough.

PS--- also, NO solo diving permitted without a recreational solo diving certf. is the latest word I have been told. FYI only.
