Wrapped up 5 days of diving today

was anyone else out?

Currents were ripping, and going the opposite direction... We dove yucab and the sand looked like tornadoes or dust storms, we were flying through there, it was actually kinda fun 🤣
Same here! our dive crew mentioned during the briefing that in May, the currents can be really strong and unpredictable, sometimes even switching directions. Every morning they chose the dive sites based on the current conditions, most days we ended up diving at Palancar, navigating through the coral formations to stay protected from the current. One day we wanted to dive at Santa Rosa Wall, but the crew actually jumped in first to check the conditions. Unfortunately, they decided it wasn’t safe, so we had to skip it.
Still, we had some really great dives despite the tricky currents! we were lucky to see turtles mating on two different dives. The crew explained to us that it’s mating season for turtles around this time of the year.

Last Sunday it rained all night and into the morning. It looked like it was going to be a ā€œfreshwater rinseā€ day, but the skies started clearing as we left the marina and the sea was ā€œglass.ā€ We dropped on Santa Rosa and it was beautiful. Viz forever and just enough current you didn’t need to fin. It’s such a pretty wall with overhangs to slide into and tons of color. The turtles, morays, nurse sharks, and schooling fish were out. Only thing missing was an eagle ray. 😊

Otherwise we mostly haven’t known which way we were drifting ā€˜til we dropped and then Mr. Toad’s wild ride…lol. Sometimes it’s just better to be lucky than good. Never the same dive twice. šŸ¤æšŸ˜ŽšŸŒ“
