My oldest scuba tank still in service is from 1942. My oldest oxygen bottle is from 1904.

I thought I was doing good finding a K-bottle dated 1918.
I have a lot of 1911s for some reason. I think a couple of these 1917s.
I like the old ones. Lots of history if you can read the stamps.

How about the Aquarius I permanently relieved from Herbie in the mid 70s as he was always too pissed to use it

With a rope around my waist I would dive from his boat as my mother would be a different pissed had he lost me

so, at some point, you can say it doesn't need to be requalified, because the stamp XX is on it...

example(s):

is it 1917 or 2017?
is is 1922 or 2022?

:confusing:

Myself :).

Aside from that, my 56 (?) Mistral purchased by an uncle in Thailand at the PX when he was stationed there and gifted to me in 1966 when I did my first YMCA scuba course.

Oldest piece of dive gear that still functions, hmmm.

Purchased new: 1976 Seatec horse collar BC oral inflation [upgraded to oral/lp]. I bought it for a YMCA skin diving course, originally I was just going to buy a snorkeling vest, but the dive shop owner asked if I was also going to learn to scuba dive; when I said yes, he recommended the Seatec, which could be used for both skin diving and scuba diving.

Purchased used:

Regulators:

Green Label USD Aqualung [Broxton] circa 1952 / 1953. Functional, but the one piece hose without one way mushroom valves limits its use [for me at least].

USD StreamAir [West Pico] Circa 1956 / 1957. Functional and has the three piece hose / mouthpiece
assembly. Gets regular use.

Fins:

Full foot black rubber UDT Duckfeet circa 1955, love them.

and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I re-read the OP and he said oldest functioning piece of gear, he didn't say that we had to be the original buyers. If we have to be the original purchasers as new, then nothing older than 1998 for me.
Sorry, that was the intent of my post, since I did reference it was bought for me in the early 70's.

Yeah, the issue is they changed the formatting in the 70s. Give me another 45 years and I will give that a go.
