My personal rule of thumb is my weight in a dry suit is 2 LBS more than that of a 7MM.

My 7MM weight in fresh water is equal to my salt water weight with no protection.

First off, I would not use the Jet Fins. Your feet and legs will sink and as good as they are in heavy exposure gear they are horrid in little or none.

I believe in ditchable weight so there is that but I doubt you need more than 6 pounds, maybe 8 and with a 3/2 fullsuit 10 to 12. It really depends upon your displacment and body composition and distribution of that compostion .

I would bring some exposure suit. Either s 3/2 full suit or a shorty or a two piece set you can layer and a rashguard or several.

I second that, I made that mistake (brought my jet fins on a warm trip with wetsuit) and it was impossible to stay in trim with such heavy fins without putting a constant effort.

@Wibble out of curiosity, which size of Jetfins do you use in wet boots?

Hmm. Maybe I’d be better off with some Quattros.

My rock boots are a lot bigger than wetsuit booties. The XL JetFins are a bit tight but work. Normally use Holis F1 fins which weigh 4.5kg/10 lbs the pair.

You can try your wetsuit in a pool with the jetfins if you have access to a pool to try scuba stuff?

I should have mentioned: I use Jet Fins with my drysuit for UK diving.

Full foot Quattros are my go to for warm water diving. Watched a guy recently in Bonaire floating along decapitating coral heads with his jet fins and he had no idea, he couldn't feel it. Don't get me wrong they have their place and I own a pair but floating along looking at a pretty coral reef? Different tools for different jobs is the way I look at it.

My wife and I both use Quattros. They are great all-around fins. And if I happen to touc something with them I can feel it. Staying in trim with them is not a problem.

That drives me nuts, divers hanging vertical in the water dragging there fin tips across the reef top :( .

I know the OP is 3D self aware and fully capable of getting trimmed out but still, as said, right tool for the job.

A long time user of Quattros, I prefer Go-Sports (or Eddy Fins) but I would never feel wrong with Quattros. Just saying, Go-Sports and Eddy Fins are like Jet Fins minus the negative buoyancy and packing weight.

Out of curiosity, I was planning to trim out and balance the jet fins by putting the lead weight up high, on the top cam band.

Also the jet fins are the lighter weight rubber at 3.5kg/7.7 lbs the pair.

Just replaced the battery on the Suunto D9tx. I paid $3 for the battery from Amazon.

Wondering if I should send the extra $50 for changing the battery to my local dive shop as a royalty?

As an aside, I searched eBay for D9tx computers. Shocked and stunned at the prices they're listed for, ~$550; you could get a decent computer for those prices! A new Periquine for example. Or maybe even a second hand Perdix v1 from a fashion tart (don't tell them that there's nothing wrong with the v1 -- need the marketing victims to go out an buy new so the rest of us can have their underused cast-offs!)
