I don't get it, why all the rancor towards the OP ?

If you find that a companies advertising is in poor taste, offends you ... are you going to be more inclined to use there products, or less? even if they are good ones?
I myself would be disappointed if I saw an ad for a company that I had respect for, doing a cheesy ad like that one.
... even it was a good pic .. It's not one I would associate with a quality product

I just bought one of the Salvo 400ft Reels, best bloody Reel I have ever had the pleasure to use. Smoothest action ever !!

Cheers

Just bought SS plate, already use the AL. Hope we haven't become a prudish, politically correct group.

I'm a woman and I have answered OP question. The answer was simple - I don't care about the ad - i care about the quality of diving equipment.

And really i don't think you need to shout on people here (as far as I understand netiquette - bold and caps and oversized fonts are meant for shouting). Even if they don't know this is Women Views forum they already found out after your first post. And they still post here. And they have every right to do so.

Mania has spoken so there needs to be no additional discussion of the topic.

Also, no matter how many men come to the thread and call women prudes, draconian, hypocritical, supporters of homelessness, child labor, people who don't care about their fellow man, people who focus on little unimportant issues like this when bigger one face the world, slavery and so forth because we did not like the ad--we should be ok with it because they have every right to make personal attacks becasue we disagree about the ad.

You see that is what I am most upset about, not that someone has a different view of the ad than I do--but that those that have a different view say I am a horrible person who does not care about my fellow man and that I do and support worse things than that ad. I have not personally attacked anyone who disagreed with me--I did use a big colored font.

I just read this whole thread and now I'm in a bad mood, some of you are just rude. The OP had a legitimate question which has now been degraded beyond recognition.

I don't think I would buy from this company and here is why. Posting that picture was very unprofessional and what I would consider a really poor business decision. For a moment I thought I would be moved by all great testimonials about the quality of their product. But I decided that if they would make such an unprofessional and classless move as to post this picture on their website, what other unprofessional things are they doing? I had no prior knowledge of this company before this and now when I do my research to purchase any new gear, I will likely discount any info on Salvo, because of this unprofessional behavior. Not all publicity is good publicity.

It might be nice if the company would explain themselves...I know It would make a difference to me.

in fairness to Salvo, they removed the pictures almost immediately

and we don't know how the pics got up on the website to begin with ... so...

yes, it was a tasteless thing to do, but the response at least was good

since the model appears to be the owner's wife, i believe this was more an error of judgment type of thing
