Would you buy from this company (Salvo)

Not sure about anyone else but if I was the company and i hadn't shown up yet I wouldn't. . . it would be nothing other than a bashing of the company and no matter what they did someone would still be upset. . . if you are truly bothered by this why not send the company an e-mail or give them a call and give them a chance to explain themselves to you. . . SB is a big force but there is no reason for a company to come on here to explain something that probably would have gone on not being noticed to most people. . .

I completely disagree...there has been 5000+ views to this thread...and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear their side of it...I would feel completely different if someone came out and said it was a disgruntled employee or someone acting on their own, and not a company decision.

This is a real pet peeve of mine, people who can't bother to read the thread they are posting in. It appears you never even saw the pictures. Well, kind of pointless to continue it with you. Read the thread and find out what kind of pics they were, what were the issues about the biz, and welcome back to discussion then if you still feel like it.

The pics are long gone, so I can't really see just how bad it really was. I don't own but one Salvo spg so I really can't comment on how good their equip. is. I taught a radio personality to dive that wrote ads. I hated one ad in particular. Time warp was years from the ad to me teaching him. After my rant and scolding his reply was with a smile: "But you remembered it" and "that was the point." Like it or not Salvo could not buy the advertising they got here in the last few days.

Salvo: I'll buy your gear - I don't mind semi-offensive ads! Just DON"T try for a naked dude in the backplate and harness - do something else original and post it in here!

I think you are completely wrong in your prediction of the bashing. Even this thread (with its emphasis!) ended up being pretty overwhelmingly pro-Salvo. If I was Salvo rep, I certainly would start a new thread and not make an appearance in this one. And Salvo could expect quite a lot more support because now even those with some self-restraint in this thread could more openly express their opinions.

And please stop making Salvo into some sort of victim here. Boo-hecking-hoo. How typical! They published what they published. You make an assumption it was a prank. I have not heard it was. I have given my reasoning why I did not contact them personally on multiple occasions, and that reason was directly related to this publishing of the picture.

I am not “expecting” and apology and reasoning. I am stating that it would make a difference to me. I am also 100% sure that it would make difference to few others. And those few others are most likely in the group of people who won’t be posting in this thread because they are the ones bashed here.

I gave the reason in this thread already, more than once, after people questioned why would I not call Salvo if I am upset about the pictures. Has nothing to do with any other history with this company, just what has been already said in THIS thread. *sigh*

(Disclaimer: I have one piece of Salvo equipment purchased elsewhere that I have not had a chance to even try out yet.)

It's my understanding that the owner of Salvo was the technical innovator behind the highly acclaimed Halcyon products. This company was at the forefront of DIR, offering products designed for the rigorous DIR discipline.

Sometimes people who are brilliant pay a bit less attention to what is socially proper. Accepting their faults is a minor price to pay for their contributions. As the offensive material was quickly removed from the website, I would not let it affect my opinion of that company.
