Of course I don't think anyone in their right mind would stand that close to one and pull the trigger.

:33:

of course, you realize it's whalerkyle we're talking about, right?

Not a Peep from Kyle about the tank. Hmmmmmmmmm :33:

Darwin Award? :cut: :medal:

Holy depth charges Scubaman!...Almost 24 hours since tank D-day and no word from Kyle...Did the tank(s) survive? Did the tank(s) explode? What happened to our hero, Whalerkyle? Where are the pictures/video?

We've been sucked in for over a year to the previous thread and for several days to this the "Son of Exploding Tank" thread...will Whalerkyle deliver the goods, will we be rewarded with the demise of one, if not both, pressurized vessels...or, has Kyle been defeated by the allmighty 80 cf metal cylinder? For these and other Scubaboard answeres tune in again to this thread...If you dare!

This was done on mythbusters on Discovery channel with a 30-06 M1 like in the Jaws movie. It didn't blow! They finally wanted to see what it took and had to wrap C4 around it to get it to blow!

It's been tried...on the TV show "Myth Busters". No boom (sorry). Penetration of the round depends on strike surface i.e. a glancing shot may deflect, a straight shot penetrates. There is a tremendous release of pressure that has to be dealt with. Now, consider a tank of 100% Oxygen versus compressed breathing air...There's your boom!
Lighten up Doc, bored divers aboard...hehehe.

Maybe, but probably not. Oxygen doesn't burn, it only increases the flammability of other things. So, unless there was either an open flame nearby or a steady supply of sparks along with a combustable material, nothing extra is likely to happen.

Hydrogen, on the other hand,.....

(BTW, this is an ancient thread....)
