Living 100 yards from Monterey Bay, It seemed like the right fun thing to do. I was a good surfer as long as I didn’t stand up so I needed another option. NAUI filled that option.

Then in the early 60’s I did the surface recovery of a shipmate after an accident. That night I felt a need or a calling to devote my life to diving.

Still here still doing it.

So, Paul, tell the truth, you don't get high?...i thought we were not supposed to talk about it but everybody pretty much does.

It's sooooooo relaxing. the more bad days at work, the more time I spend under water.

Some times I wish I could go alone though, and not have to worry about where my buddy is, and how they are doing. I would just stay in one place most of the time and just watch my surroundings.

Only when they opened the door in preparation to jumping...:D

For world peace.

I dive because there's always something new to learn, to experience.

Summed up it's the challenge, in the end it's me against myself and I don't have to keep track of the score to have fun. I win by having fun.

To stop language, in a structuralist sense. Which appears to be Zen.
