Yes, it is Mask On Forehead, which leads to convulsions and death David. Do a search why don't you? Geeze...

I prefer the LSD vs. Online debate.

I build my own...;)
shouldn't this be in the DIY forum?

Maybe many of the people on scubaboard are gearheads because they do not live in a part of the world where there is much to get excited about what they see underwater. Therefore they get excited about what they can DO and USE underwater...if that makes sense.

Yeah -- you are probably right. And, I didn't mean to suggest that there is anything wrong with having a scuba gear jones -- Lord knows there are worse vices. I just find equipment stuff boring compared to everyting else diving offers.

Part of it is rooted that for most divers the best piece of gear they know of is the one that got them back safe last time. To suggest something else is better would be to question their own inteligence.

Some have had bad experience with certain items. It was often fit more than quality or design but in any case what replaced it must have been superior since suddenly it all came together.

The we have the DIR crowd with their defined confirguration and egotistical moniker, be it by design or not. If you with them you are anointed. If you are not then you are moved to demonstrate that you are not doing it wrong.

The sport takes us into an enviornment where we cannot survive without our gear so we are are protective of it. There are plenty of sports where you can get hurt, frozen, beaten and bruised but you still have air to breathe.

Also the stuff isn't cheap and nothing is cut and dried.

Pete
