These markings have been used for decades and there were no issues with the way they are done over these decades. You are trying to make an issue out of a totally non-issue.
 
Luxfer have said any laser markings on a tank makes it unsuitable for service.
Not only that, but a QR code is overkill, and actually makes it more difficult. The important information is month and year. Easy enough for the guy at the fill station to add 5 years and make a determination if that date has happened yet. With a QR code, a device that can read it is needed. And then, they’d need to scan until they found the latest. Not exactly efficient.

Let alone the problem of actually reading the code after years of use in salt water, and getting bumped around.

Stamps work fine. Prior to this thread, I’ve never heard anyone complain about them.
