Hi guys,

My single setup has Atomic Z1x (first and second) with Hog second as a secondary (necklace setup). I liked it much better then SE octo I was diving before! My doubles (new setup as of yesterday) is two D1 Cold (first and second) and it performed well on the initial run. I had issue with my weight pockets on the harness however so I was more tinkering with it. But good thing is that I didn't even notice anything unusual (as in hard to breath, freeflow ....) on the regulators.

Need to fix the harness and back to the test diving tomorrow.

I've seen that there is a sale on those. $154 for the set, and I need to decide fast about 2 sets. I dive SM now and using a combination of my "old" regs and they are not routed optimally. Actualy I will put aside one of them for my son that will start diving BM next year.

Best would probably be SP MK25's but 2 sets of SP will cost over $1000 compared to $308.

So, I guess my dilemma is solved. I will order the HOG D1 set.

For the "right tank/ left 2:nd" I still have to use another 2:nd. I will probably match with Poseidon cyclone or Dacor Viper that I have.

By the way the Atomic is also ideal for SM configuration.

Thanks

I ordered a D1 cold set today from DRIS

Sale ended at midnight Friday I believe - but if you missed it, Piranha have the same prices all weekend, and they're chucking in a delrin DIN cap at no cost

Thanks.
I saw that DiveSsports have that sale too till Sunday. I will order some more things that I need and will match them for best deal.

Our sale on the D1s runs through Sunday night and does come with the Delrin Din Cap  Most of the other stuff was only for Friday and is coming off the site later today, but the Edge/Hog Sale is good until Sunday

And thanks to everyone for their purchases, you too Tortuga! We sold well over 75 of these regs worldwide, so you will have LOTS of reviews soon on the performance. Those that haven't picked one up, don't wait too long...this sale won't last forever and they will be going back up in price.

We will also be traveling to do the reg repair class, as one of my techs is already one of the few Instructors for this TDI/Hog Reg Class. Find 5-10+ of your buddies in your area that have the reg, and we will come out there to teach the 2 day class for you and teach you how to repair your own HOG Reg :D Depending on how many students there are, will determine the costs of the class

I just bought 3 of these HOG D1 Second Stage. The price from Dive Right In Scuba.com was great.

From the pictures they do look just like the Dive Rite (RG3000), which are very well made. Are the internal parts interchangeable with the Dive Rite and some of the other similar clones?

In the Dive Right In Scuba.com I only saw service kits for the first stages, how can I get service kits and specifically the poppet's for the 2nd stages?

My only concern is where to get parts, in particular the poppet. I am not too concern about getting parts today or tomorrow, I am concern about 20 or 30 years from now. I know they are plastic and maybe they are intended to be recycled into fleece sweaters in a few years, but the way I like to take care of my gear… 40 year old gear is still in perfect shape. This second stage seems to have enough metal parts to be around for a number of years into the future... I hope.

Hopefully the more companies that use the same design, the more chances that parts will be available on the long run.

Thanks

Hahaha :) yeah keep poking fun :) but I think you will like the regulators anyway :)

No my friend :) not poking fun. I was being honest, it really was a complete brain fade on my part.

Btw. Lee posted some nice pictures of a set of doubles with Apeks DST regs (they look quite similar to the Hog regs) in horizontal orientation. It looks like there is decent clearance around the balance chamber to reach the valves:

Oh, and I did break down and buy 2 sets for my doubles :D Just need a set of Miflex hoses now. Mike ... any deals on those coming up ... hint hint

I think that cave divers might not like them that much as they do stick a little above the valves. However I had no problems with routing (mind you I am not an expert and today was my second dive in doubles. (I own 3 HOG D1 Cold regs 1st and 4 2nd stage I also own Atomic Z2x first and second stage.)

Since it was Wednesday when I dove single (with Z2x) and yesterday was tweaking with my new doubles (new BP/w etc...) so I only did 15 min run as I had issues with BP/w and weight pouches. Today I did a good 48min run down to 95ft (deepest then progressing up) and couldn't tell you the difference as I didn't encounter any problems. Regulator didn't free flow (water temp 48F), didn't breath wet, breath easy ... I like it a lot.
