Time to make some calls. I'll probably try Tres Pelicanos first as I think I know a DM that works for them now. Do you know if Tres Pelicano's does a surface interval on the beach? And if they ever run any afternoon dives...heck maybe an afternoon up North by request? I haven't dove up north in about 10 years.

Re: Same hotels. Everyone has their preferred hotels. I'm hooked on the Casa Mexicana (breakfast, beds, location). The couple (with the one diver) really likes the Hotel Cozumel (hot tub, pool, waterfront). Rather than force them to stay with the others, I figured some of the cool dive shops would be able to help us out. They will probably join us for dinner several nights...but not every night and they don't mind the walk or might walk there and cab back. All pretty laid back if you ask us.
Most dive boats will make multiple stops. Meet up on the boat.

Hi Everyone,

This year we have 3 divers. Two are staying at the Casa Mexican and 1 is staying at the Hotel Cozumel. We have used Dive Paradise in the past and we'd like to try something different.

To all the Cozumel experts here as well as any Dive Shop owners...does anyone pickup someplace around the Casa Mexicana and can they also stop by/close to the Hotel Cozumel on the way down south each morning? The 2 divers at the Casa Mexicana are okay getting on down at the Hotel Barracuda if needed. Not sure what is close to the Hotel Cozumel if you can't get in right there. The Casa Mexicana breakfast at 7am, we can probably be ready by 740am.

We are looking for a week of 2-tank morning dives. If there was an option for a few (2-3) afternoon dives it would be great. Standard tanks are fine, if bigger tanks used that's okay too. All three of us have been to Cozumel many times. Only 1 diver with camera rig (not big). We're okay with being picked up at the hotel if that helps any! Small boats are okay, ideally they would be covered. Would be nice if the surface interval was on the beach (if they still do that). Gear valet would be nice too.

Any suggestions / recommendations?

Blue XT Sea departs downtown T pier at 8 and can stop at Hotel Cozumel at 8:15 -no problem!

Shoot me an email at reservations@bluextseadiving.com with your dates, requests, etc.

Yes, 3P's generally does the SI at a beach and they run afternoon dives if there is enough interest. Peak season they seem to usually have afternoon boats going out. Low season not so much. Jeannie at 3P's can confirm but I think if a minimum of 3 divers are willing to commit to an afternoon dive they will run an afternoon boat at basically break-even to go above and beyond what others are willing to do. I believe they generally avoid the northern sites with larger mixed groups as the currents up there can be a challenge/spooky for divers with less experience (so I've been told as I've never been diving the northern sites). Yes, all gear including neoprene is taken care of by them from the day you arrive until you are prepping to depart the island.

Salty Endeavors will go with one diver, at least for now. There are dozens of great ops on Coz, but this is certainly one of them.

Hi Christi. I kinda figured you'd also be able to make it work but I had just setup something with 3P's before I saw your post. When we're meandering around town we'll stop in and say if we have time.

Thanks for all the advice. I now have everything setup with Jeannie at 3P's. When I am back I'll post a mini review since I've never dove with them before.

To confirm what others said. We will walk and meet them at their shop at 7:40am and pick up the other diver a few minutes later on the way to the Caleta. Breakfast at the Mexicana will be tight but doable. She already confirmed a few afternoon dive days have enough other divers so should be good to go there. Staying at different hotels doesn't seem to be much of an issue at all.

Man I love Cozumel :)

on the way to the Caleta
That was the old marina. You'll got to the new one now.

Breakfast at the Mexicana will be tight but doable.
In the two week long stays I had at their sister hotel, eating there, I don't think it ever started on time at 7am, but close enough that you can eat enough in 30 minutes, then mosey over to 3Ps.

Are you headed there soon? We arrive Sunday.

Well Dandy, during our 2 1/2 week stay in December I can tell you the buffet officially opened at 7AM every day. Now, we usually head down and grab a table by 6:50 AM or so. Coffee was almost always on the table and Santa at the buffet (who makes everything and anything on her griddle) was sure to waive us up as soon as all was in order even if it was before the official 7 AM opening. Must be the time of year you were visiting. In early December before the crazy X-mas rush and the onset of peak season, it was open on time all the time and usually a little bit sooner.
