Agreed.

Speaking as a collector, ebay is the most expensive place to buy vintage gear. The cheapest is at a garage sale, followed by Craigslist.

this stuff is from 1973. thats considered vintage

To vintage divers, there is old (what your gear is ) as opposed to vintage. Hard to describe the difference but it's something like a 57 Chevy will always be a classic car but a 75 Pinto will just be old but never classic.

i saw the same dive gauge watch on ebay just sell for over $200. thats not exactly pinto prices. so i think maybe some of it is old and other pieces are vintage. either way if they're worth a couple hundred bucks, that's fine too, im not looking to become rich. just trying for fair market value

Oh, come on! Good luck.

Vintage has to do with what a collector wants. For example, had the compass been a wrist mount, I'd have called it vintage and bought it. But since it was a console mount, it did not harken back far enough, and I'd (and that's just me talking) just consider it an old piece of gear, worth about 25% of what a similar new piece of gear today would go for. You will do best on eBay because you will find a greater diversity of opinion as to what's vintage, the folks here tend to be purists.

A fool and his money are soon parted. On ebay I have seen used items sell for more than the exact items brand new costs.

Ebay can be strange.Iv'e seen an item sell one week for $50 then the same one for over $200 a week later.Like a beat up Voit single hose explorer-2 a week ago for over $350 what a joke!I have a blue J.C. Higgings single hose. One with a box sold over $300.Iv'e seen them go for $60.But I guess a plain box with Sears on it is worth $300?It only takes two idiots to get big bucks for something.I do wish you the best.As far as Craigslist goes, you have to be the first one to respond to get a good deal.People are checking it everyday for deals.
