Nice to see my solution worked. :) Teach people to eat them and we'll cut the population to nothing flat!

So question: has anyone been diving the east side this winter? I have to think they are running rampant over there or up north around the lighthouse in the flats/those coral areas up there?

Because of a scarcity of "good" nortes this year we had only a few east side trips. However we have been continuously going way north, and even there we have thinned them out significantly. As summer approaches the seas will subside and going around the north end to the east will be more practical and we hope to clean up there as well.

Looking for an update on places to stay and dive. Family of five looking for any advice it's been awhile. Thanks

Given you liked the Fiesta Inn, it is still there, just now called the Hotel Cozumel. Mixed reviews of AI option but still a decent place. Or if you actually liked the Fiesta Americana down south, it is still there as well, just a little more upscale.

Basie hunts lionfish on every dive.. east side is not that bad .. But that's talking with Eastside divers ...

Thanks for your reply.. Im new to the forum and having a bit of trouble navigating.
My husband and I are experienced divers but my kids are still green. Not sure how many persons are on the average dive boat? We are looking for an attentive dive shop and would like to be picked up at our hotel? From what I recall Fiesta Americana is about a 15 minute drive to town? But closer to the reefs?
We were once very familiar with the Island but that was a long time ago.
I have heard lots of things have changed in Cozumel. Crime and Lion Fish????
My friends are there now diving with Scuba Club ? Is that the diver hotel thats basic and all inclusive?
Again any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are booking a trip for June 2017.

Any suggestions on accomodations and dive shops. Is Cozumel still safe? We used to use Dive with Martin but heard he sold? Is hunting permitted in the park? Thanks
