For the record.... the WKPP did not "close" Wakulla, Sally Ward (which is on the Wakulla State Park prperty), or any of the other numerous sites in the WKP (Woodville Karst Plain). These sites were already closed, and we petitioned the owners for access to them. Access was granted under extremely tight parameters, under which WKPP operates, which include legitimate scientific exploration in the areas of Hydrology an Zoology among others. I have no idea whether other groups have petitioned for access to these sites, other than the Wakulla 2 Project.

I thought I already defended WKPP on that subject and said essentially that very same thing.

Fewer than ONE HUNDRED divers cap themselves while practicing this sport every year. That number has not materially changed over the time that DAN has been keeping statistics.

You continually twist around the truth by omission, which is that nearly all of the fatalities you cite above that were solo were unintentionally solo.

So what you are saying is that you refused to answer even one direct question even after I took the time to respond point by point to your post and your only true intention is to turn this thread into another solo debate..

Even if I wanted to indulge your fantasy and accept the 77 number wherein 14 of them were right here in my backyard in So Cal.. Meaning that 18% of the worldwide fatalities occured right in my backyard, if you think I shouldn't speak out on the local lists about this and if you think that number isn't troubling then we look at things differently. 18% of the worldwide scuba deaths and I'm confident that if we added in Central California and Northern California we'd be well about 25% of the worldwide fatalities. As a local that bother's me. We have surpassed Florida in the number and percentage of fatalities and we don't even have caves out here, which accounts for some of the fatalities in Florida..

To that end, you may wish to go back and play revisionist history, but the fact is that the vast majority of our local fatalities were from divers that entered the water solo, had a SOB system, or continue a dive after they seperated, whether planned or otherwise..

All of this discussion is way beyond the scope of this thread and while I accept that you are not fairing very well in this thread and you may desire to change the subject, since I took the time and provided you with the courtesy of a direct response to you, against my better judgement, can we please bring this back to the direct question that I aksed you, which is why do you care what standards GUE has since they don't apply to you??? And how do you create a nexus between what I post on a local California scuba board to infringe on how you dive in Florida and/or whether Florida will change it's laws to mandate everyone dive DIR because of what I write..

Please, everyone sees that you are avoiding tackling your very own views, but can you please try to stay on point?? If you want to start a seperate thread and go into the solo debate please go for it but we all see your obfuscation tactics for what they are.. If you refuse to respond to my direct questions, don't bother responding at all because I will no reply to anything else you write. I've answered all your questions and if you want to have a dialogue, as opposed to a monologue, then at some point you need to answer our questions..

The whole bull**** with boat access rights STARTED UP HERE when NE boats were denying GUE certs! Do you guys even dive? How can you profess to have this much knowledge about these topics yet be so one-sidedly clueless?

Debate about DIR/GUE all you want but this spreading of lies and misinformation is truly doing the diving community a disservice, IMO.

I'm aware of that aswell, and they should be denied. GUE doesn't have an OW cert and they aren't a member of RSTC, so other then nice to have merit badges, why should a charter except them solely by themselves? Besides, anyone who has a GUE card surely got their ticket with another agency, so whats the big deal.

Frankly I'm not impressed with your attitude, I used to think higher of you.

That was proposed in the past. They naturally declined, because they didn't want to "water down" the rest of the forums. Seems they think they would do the average recreational diver a disservice to go talk about DIR in its own private corner. ( Either that or they would get less people to put down $$$ for the class. )

And it was Mike Grey who got the laugh of the day out of me on the subject of DIR being its own group:

You constantly amaze me in your ability to miss the entire point.. The NE charter boat issue had absolutely NOTHING to do with WRSTC and/or OW certs, and the fact that everyone had OW certs from another agency so squarely misses the point that it's almost impossible to discuss with you.

1) The issue was about technical dive charter's, more specifically the Seeker refusing to accept a GUE trimix card. In other words the R in WRSTC stands for RECREATIONAL, this was a technical certification so WRSTC and/or OW training is of no consequence.

2) This was more of an issue of Dan Crowell being pissed at George for George bashing him because of the numerous fatalities on the Seeker. It was also a case of Dan sending one of my students an e-mail saying that GUE training wasn't as good as his and/or TDI's training so why waste the money on our classes since Dan could train him.

3) Moreover, it was Dan Crowell suggesting to our students that GUE had no insurance..

In other words, it was Dan's 3 factual lies and NOTHING whatsoever to do with OW classes and/or WRTSC guidelines..

I may add that when we were forwarded Dan's e-mail from our student and JJ threatened to sue for liable and slander Dan Crowell quickly posted a public apology acknowledging his errors.

Once again Chris, if you don't know what you are talking about, why post???
