Ok.. Im trying to deciede what to buy but im kinda at a crossroad here.. The options are..

1. Oceanic Datamask
2. DeltaP VR3
3. New Bare trilam drysuit

Hears the scoop.. I already have a Suunto cobra air-intergrated computer that I wear on my left side and also a Oceanic Dataplus2 that I wear on my wrist..

I have an older Bare 7mm neoprene drysuit and I wouldnt mind having a 1.5mm Bare trilam drysuit..

Im going to be getting into tech diving in the near future..

Before I spend $1500 on a new Oceanic Datamask, I'd personally let the others be the "field testers" to work the bugs out. That's just me.

But than again, a $1500 mask will solve that "Mask on Forehead" problem. (You won't risk loosing it for what you paid for it).

spend the money on training....... no need for a 'data mask', VR3 is OTT now. A new suit while nice could wait..... there are some other things that come first when going into tech diving: training, tanks, regs, gas, many dives......

1500 gets you nice baseline tech training and then some...

I'm pretty much with Meng Tze on this one.

If you're going to be getting into tech, a drysuit will probably be the thing you need the most.

VR3 is a great computer, but most tech training (IME) revolves around planning and using tables

Further training is priceless...

i would never risk wearing a 1500 piece of kit that could be taken away by a wave or incompitent diver kicking you in the face..

go with the drysuit and use tables until you can get a computer, because you will still want those tables with you as backup even after buying the comp

It is way too early to be spending that kind of cash on those kind of gadgets.

Start out with a basic steel backplate, harness, and wing. Make your own, its worth the challenge.

Then get a good drysuit.

Then you will be ready to start tech training.

A general rule for tech diving is that you never wear or buy anything with Oceanic written on it.

OMS, fine. Oxycheque, sure. Halcyon, even better. Scubapro, definitely.

That's a pretty rough statement considering Oceanic makes some of the best regs out there.
