What magazines do you read / recommend?

Personally,,, I take anything Rodales says with a block...not a grain...but a block of salt. IMHO they are way to influenced by who buys space in their mag.

Alert Diver and Diver Training are pretty good mags.....but I have noticed that
in the last year or so....DT has advertising on over half of its pages when it
used to have like none.

Blame it on the American Culture: "I Want Cheap!" Almost every publication has to seel ads to continue...

One exception is "Undercurrent," and I just got the newest monthly periodical. Impressed! Really interesting and informative. This one, and their annual Chapbook, does print crticisms from contriubtors, but I take everything I read - from any magazine or here on SB - as Possibly True, Maybe Not?! Look for them at www.Undercurrent.org

BTW Rich: Where did you get the term "block of salt"? You ever work with livestock...?

In my opinion, basically anything except Rodales.

hi deputy,
i pick my magazines depending on the articles in each issue, this sometimes means i have 2-3 different mags in a month and sometimes i dont buy any. have a flick through in the store to see what hits your button.

I like DIVE magazine cause it has articles about everything and mainly it sometimes has articles about Red Sea and diving there.

I picked up a couple of Scuba mags at the newstand recently, Rodales' and PADI's, and was really disappointed - not much meat there. Are there any good diving magazines left out there?

If you find them, let me know. I recently went through two of them and I think I found a total of four pages that did not have promotional material on them. And I'm not going to renew "Undercurrents".

Dive Training magazine is my favorite. It doesnt try to sell stuff, its just good honest information. It's quite informative sometimes, and usually free at your LDS.
