H2Andy:
the key is to look like what lobsters like to eat:

other lobsters and crabs

dress up as one of these thigns, and watch the bugs run you over in their feeding frenzy
True, they are also scavengers and eat rotten things off the bottom. This may explain why they come racing out of their holes to get a look at some of my buddies :D .

ONESPEED:
Luckily I NEVER miss, you on the other hand....
Oh, hello Chip. Welcome to the thread!

Be sure to look closely for eggs before using any of these techniques.

In places where bugs are common you take a snare or tickler & net and it's pretty easy to bag almost all of them.

It's another story when spearing fish, without any special bugging gear, and you come across a deeply holed up lobster. By tickling I can usually get them to stupidly go to the best side of the den for an attack, where their tail flip is going to send them into the wall or out to me. I pounce from both sides if possible and pin the carapace.

If out in the open you can get them confused by tapping them lightly from behind so they drop an antenna back too, and they don't know which way you're going to come at them.

The finger walk down the antennas works if they can't back up, but you have to be careful not to grab, or they'll break off. Just touch and move down like an octopus would do, until you can grab the knuckles firmly.

Always carry a draw string mesh bag in a pocket. You can easily bag them with the dog turd pick up method... but it only works once.

We use the same method but I never thought to call it the dog turd pickup. I will have to remember that!

We usually just snorkel for lobsters so we usually bag the rest of them on the surface. One person holds the half full bag open above the surface and the other person literally throws the lobster down (with some speed) into the bottom of the bag and close it. It is all done very quickly to prevent any from escaping the bag: open, throw, close, done. It looks something like this:

Notice that I'm holding the lobster and you the bag.:D

Good afternoon Chris! Shall we go buggin' this weekend?

fishb0y:
Be careful, Hawaii is one of those places that spearing lobster is illegal. If you get caught, say goodbye to your dive gear.
along with the boat you are on(if so) the truck that you trailered your boat with(if so)
or the car that you drove to the dive site.................

charris400:
I am free Sunday, lets go.
Bye the way, you left your ping pong ball snorkel and your webbed swim gloves at my house last time we went lobstering :D .

That's cool because I still have your Voit Viking fins and your snorkeling vest. Sunday sounds good, I'll call you.

hey, i just had another idea for getting lobster ... bring some melted butter with you, and put it on the bottom of the ocean ... then wait while the lobsters come to you

because you can have lobster without melted butter

but you can't have melted butter without the lobster
