Another vote for Scubatoys always great service and great prices too and it always fun to talk with Larry on the phone.

cburns:
Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions on a good online store for Scuba gear. I have to make some "accessory" purchases (bag, knife, torch, etc.) and I was looking for some recommendations on an online store that offers good prices and trustworthy service.

Thanks!

Places I've heard, and believe are reputable are:

http://www.scubatoys.com/

http://www.diversdirect.com/

http://www.rapidiver.com/

(do I really have to add a disclaimer to the latter?)

I will anyway:

DISCLOSURE: I am related to the designer of the RAPID DIVER, I’ve been testing the RAPID DIVER prototypes for a couple of years, my username is “RAPIDIVER”, the picture is of me wearing a RAPID DIVER, and I help with RAPIDIVER.COM so, you could probably conclude I am biased toward RAPIDIVER.COM

I'm not affiliated with scubatoys.com or diversdirect.com but would heartily endorse their products and trustworthy service.

I used LeisurePro lots of times in the past and just this spring I needed a 3mm jumpsuit for warm water diving. I asked for 2 sizes and returned the one that did not fit well. It was a Harvey's brand. No problem returning and getting credit back on my charge card.

Other gear I have bought from LeisurePro - Oceanic Chute2 BCD, UW UK lites, had no problems with the gear and saved lots of $$ by shopping online.

I also used Online Scuba (Las Vegas, Nevada) http://www.onlinescuba.com/. From them I tried out 2 full jumpsuits and returned them without any hassled what so ever.

My only buying experience was with LeisurePro. I initially selected them based on some amazingly low prices for certain items (e.g. a Sub-Cressi mask for which diopter style lenses were available). BUt then I discovered that they were local (for me). I was living in NJ just outside Manhattan. These guys have a regular retail store on 17th Street in Manhattan just a block or two east of the Union Square area. Same owners as Adorama camera (who has been around forever) and very well run. I will buy from them again when I invest in a BCD and regulator.

Leisurepro.com !
Best prices, quick delivery.
Been satisfied with everything I have purchased from them .. computer, bcd, safety gear, lights, wet suits,fins.. you get the picture ?

what about air fills, classes, practice sessions, information?

I've tried some onlines in the past, but nothing beats an online air-fill for local diving or online dive courses to better my skills. Sure the online deals are great, but are they worth loosing the LDS? Can't pay rent doing air fills. I've gone the online route many times, but for ME, its not worth it for life support equipment (regs). Plus, I'd rather have a real live person to complain to and have listen to me. No, I dont own a dive shop, but I do visit one a couple times a month!

Just my 1/2 cent worth of psycho babble.
