When it's cold here (UK) it hurts me, so I pull out over winter. I embroider, cook, bake, wrap up, go out and do photography, do tapestry and prepare my 2 furry babies for shows. (Rats). They win prizes and are both pedigree champions. 6 x 1st prizes, 3 x 2nd prizes, 3 x 3rd prizes and 2 x 4th prizes between them. Plus plan dives for when it gets nice and warm again, preferably in hotter climes than UK - which isn't difficult!!

i own a small ISP and i'm a custom car stereo nut(only do jobs that i want to now and that are a challenge) and I am an inventor who just got my first patent:band:....now if i could just make some money doing all of this;-0....oh and i love and collect old BMW's (50's to the 70's) :bonk:

You bet your ass I get to the gorge.

...

But, since spring, we've been hitting The Gorge every Sunday. I just started this past spring, had done some indoor climbing before that. God, I love it!

Woo Hoo!!!!!!! Its on my 'list' of places to get to one day! There is nothing quite like the feeling of just flowing up the rock on something at the limit of your ability, when everything is just clicking... I dream about it :D

I climbed so much the first two years I trained myself into a shoulder injury!!! (Grr... I was in 10th grade and was leading 5.12... :upset:) It was almost a year until I could lift a jug of milk over my head without pain. Since then I've been climbing 3 months on/4 months off... Except for the last two years when I've been getting into it more! Before my company dissapeared I would hit the gym 2-3 days a weeks and out to coopers rock, the new or some of the climbing in western PA on the weekends. Even play hookey from work on some of those rare sunny days  (I taught one of my co-workers how to climb) I haven't climbed much in the last 4 months... (Left Pittsburgh & have been doing the diving thing!) Must get back on the rock!

I just had gall bladder surgery and I remember asking the surgeon before I went out when I could start climbing again, he just shook his head at me...

Laugh!!!

Same thing happened to me about a year ago when I had my appendix out. I kept telling them they needed to do it well so I could recover and start climbing again soon! My first day back out at the rocks my stomach was still pretty weak so the challange was... "Can I do this climb without twisting... No twisting for you!!"

There are four of us that go to The Gorge consistantly and 3 out of 4 of us dive and the 4th is getting certified this spring or summer and there's a guy we climb trad with that's going thru his diving cert after the first of the year. Now, the goal is to do a trip, once everyone is certified, to Costa Rica for some climbing and diving!

Hey now... You have to count me in on this!! I'm currently looking for a new job... Someplace with water and rocks!

You're awesome!! I need to find myself a cute women who dives and climbs!!

Hey, if you get down this way, be sure to let me know and we will take you out with us. :D You are always welcome!

How long was it before you could climb again? I just saw my surgeon today and he wants to see me again in six weeks and nada until then. :upset:

Hey, if we go the chance to go to Costa Rica, you're more than welcome to come; however, if you get job down there, hey ... I'm thinking there's welcome mat!

Why, thank you! It's always nice if you can find a partner that enjoys the same interests. I just got back some rock climbing pics from The Red today from this past summer ... yeah, ok we're slow getting film developed, lol ... but there were some decent shots. I'm anxious to run them thru the scanner and zoom and crop to see what kind of images I can get. My first lead is amongst them and my fist clean ... This not being able to climb for several weeks is going to drive me nuts! I can't even belay! :croctears: Thank God this didn't happen during the middle of outdoor climbing season, I'd be thrice as agitated! ~MLR~

I work construction, on the N.Y.S. Thruway. I run an equipment maintenance section there. I have two girls, 15-10, they keep me jumping. I have two dogs and a cat, Spankey, Beasley, and Tony the cat! Fortunately I'm usually buisy. When I'm not I'm bored, then I do what we're not talking about!

toiling (sp ?) away to feed the family (and put away enough aside to go diving and golfing :) )

building Bionicles, watch Land Before Time for the 700th (and counting) time, go to the Zoo to see 'the giant fish and hippo and hairy monkey', ... the usual Dad/Spouse stuff (i guess i left out the grocery shopping, taking out the garbage and cleaning the bathroom).

in between that i try to read, play golf, generate a compelling reason why my wife should let me have a new [insert name of scuba toy].

but really ... try to make family time = quality time (oh oh, somebody just yelled for his dinosaur jigsaw puzzle ... gotta go :D )

I think I did the 'no twisting' climb 5 weeks after. It kind of hurt if I got in the wrong position and was pretty sore the next day. (Go Percoset!) I gave it two more weeks of lite excercise and was then climbing pretty much full out again. Those muscles they sliced through were still a bit weak and it probably took another month before I felt completely recovered.

Best of luck with your recovery!!!

Excellent! I think a job down there wouldn't be too bad!!! (believe it or not I've looked!) If I do... Come on down and visit :D

PM me some of your climbing pics if you get a chance!! I really need to get a scanner one day!!
