…no 65 really isn’t old. Although I have some physical conditions other divers don’t have, ( totally blind in my left eye, AFIB, and a mild case of Myasthenia Gravis) …like my Dad at age 78-81, just the freedom of being neutral in the water brought him peace and relaxation just like with me. Don’t let age ( just a number) scare ya’….just modify your diving to suit what YOU want. I have friends now close to 80 that can swim circles around ME in almost any condition…warm or cold. ‘Carpe diem’ or maybe ‘Carpe mare’ and continue to enjoy a really unique pastime…

Ehh for our group .. we sign up to go spear fishing we’re going to unless conditions are just horrible.
Worst weather personally I’ve been in was pouring rain; air temp 48 and 4 foot seas .. we all had the look of this is stupid but no one was backing out and our group leader was having a LT Dan moment…. FYI it was calm on the bottom 😂

I like the colder weather and will dive 62 degree water in my 5 mil; actually managed to complete 10 dives about an hour each over 3 days with surface temps in the 50’s. Only got chilled chilled the very last dive.
Coldest temp I’ve dove has been 36 air, with water temp of 58… still wore the 5 just because I hate my 8 mil.

When I started I had the weight of a tank on my back and a weight belt
Then was integrated BC, or weight in the back plate, and no weight belt
Now I've returned to the weight of a tank on my back and a weight belt

And there I was diving in trim without weight or placement experiments

Just as I bought a car today sight unseen being delivered and I'll drive it

Comfortable weighting can be an ongoing process. I lost 55# recently making my ‘old’ weight configuration too heavy. I need to adjust in a controlled environment so I don’t rely on my BCD. I need to do this w/o BCD unless some weight is going to be incorporated there.
