I did the same with my Mk25.

Number one regretted purchace: the PADI Wheel. I bought it on a whim at a LDS. "This might be cool." Wow.

Wow.

Give me tables any day of the week.

I bought a wheel too. One day after I'm "gone" my kids will sort through my stuff and wonder what the heck it is. :)

tridacna:
6 liter pony bottle. Completely useless. But I now use it to pressurise my regs when I wash them out at home.

wanna sell it?

would make a good O2 Bottle for emergency O2.

This one amazes me.

Despite the thousands upon thousands of dollars of gear debt I've manage to amass, my slap strap is probably one of my favorite pieces of kit.

Best strap I've ever had. Including "that" one! :)

Gotta say, the AIR 2 alternate air source. Its difficult to use in an Out-of-Air emergency and breathing with it is uncomfortable. Wish I would've went with the regular octopus....

A slap strap is a neoprene mask strap. I have one with colored dolphins on it, but I never got used to it. I prefer the basic black silicone.

A mask from XS Scuba that has a 2.0x magification lens set into the front plate at an angle. Great concept but the angle forces you to either look down drastically or tilt your head way back to use the magnification. At least it didn't cost me an arm and a leg !!

A custom suit from Wetwear in Florida. The carpet kneepads (recommended) blew out three times. They put my thigh pockets on the front of my thigh vs. vs. the side (as specified) for caving and once I took the suit to the sea and used to three times it shrunk and is now too hard to don and doff. It's a 5mm. In addition, it took four months to get the suit. Piss poor expenditure of over 500.00 Grrrrh. X

what is a slap strap?

It's a bondage thing. Glad to know you didn't know ;)

Air2's should be as illegal as peddling crack.

I have to say I've been pretty lucky, maybe a $50,00 pony tamer? lol

Manage to make it through without ever owning the wheel despite assurances of immediate death upon my first multi-level dive.

Manage to dodge the trimix computer too.

What a great idea for a thread! I don't think we've ever had a DIR type lamenting their console or AIRII purchase before. Maybe we can get a discussion going later on how life became worth living after trying the backplate/wing.

Great attitude. I thought it sounded interesting for a thread myself. Probably been done before but what the heck.

Since you mentioned it, I regret buying my Genesis SIDEKICK Octo. Been a pain in the butt and never fit right from the start. Doesn't work well at all with my new BP/W that changed my life and made it all worth living.

Also I regret not buying more high end equipment when I started diving. Instead I have two of everything. I guess backups are good.

Oh, I also regret buying a full gym and filling my basement with it. I never use it and go to the gym instead. Anyone want to buy it? LOL
