Even though I wear a Rolex Sub doesn't mean I'm silly enough to actually take it diving with me!

They all flood eventually and aren't much use after that.

Then again, maybe I won't.....LOL

Have been using a Luminox, received a Hyper-Aquland for Christmas, and am starting to run out of wrist room.

I accessed this thread after receiving a bit of hype from Scubaboard which offered this link. Now, I''m getting tired of reading this thread and a little frustrated. It seems that everybody here LOVES their watch to the point of not wanting to dive with it, with a couple exceptions. IMO, most 'dive' watches are junk. I owned a Rolex Sub which developed a mist inside the lens after 2 years. I owned two Seikos. The battery watch stopped working for no apparent reason after 5 years. The other Seiko is a new auto model but won't stay wound overnight and has no way to physically rewind it. I owned a Luminox which was just awful, no other way to describe it. The bezel was difficult to turn and the plastic 'arms' for the band broke off. The screws stripped out of the cheap plastic. I have an Ollech Wajs (Swiss) on which the bezel is difficult to turn and the illumination is crap. All of these watches have poor illumination except for the erroneously named Luminox "Seal". The Seikos are the only ones which have easy turning bezels and the auto Seiko turns both ways, thanks for that. None of the watches I've owned, except the Luminox battery and Seiko battery, have kept good time. The "certified" Rolex was a clunker but not as bad as the Seiko auto which gains a minute / day.

Based on comments, I may look into the St Moritz or the Casio. However, I have reasons to be skeptical of any dive watches.

$24 on eBay. Max depth to date 198'...

Wear it everyday to work, 'indiglo' backlight is bright...what's not to like about cheap and good.

A wise old diver once told me "Ten dollars or ten thousand dollars, they all end up as rusty little pieces of junk strapped to your wrist."

So true, and why spend that much money on essentially a time piece when computers are now so affordable? A $30 Casio will do me just fine. I can't really imagin a situation where both of my computers, my timepiece, and my buddy's computer & timepiece fail all at the same time.

I use the Hyper-aqualand. Serves as a backup computer, and can switch to tables if the main computer dives during a trip.
