I wear trunks and a tee shirt, but sometimes put on a lycra top. (I got a good dose of sea lice on my arm a few years ago. I like the freedom of movement from diving without a wet suit. The trick is to do like the Iguanas and sun in between dives.
 
I strongly recommend wearing a full 1.5 to 3 mm wetsuit when diving more than two days. You might not feel very cold during the dive or during the day without one but at night when the winds pick up and it's get cooler - you can definately get a bit hypothermic.
