First week in September, the Wife has us on a Carnival Cruise with stops in Cozumel and Progresso. Carnival no longer offers ship excursion diving in Coz; never has in Progresso. As I eyeball operation selections in the later, most are for cenote diving which I am not into, any suggestions? What about Coz?
Thank you in advance

The water in the Golfo de Mexico side is pretty cloudy, compared to the swimming pool that is Cozumel. Personally, I would just hang out at one of the beach "clubs", and get some drinks from Eladio's. The drinks are excellent and come with complimentary "botanas", which are sort of like Mexican tapas. If you want to get some culture, Merida is only an hour away.

I'm trying to get an independent excursion set up in Cozumel myself, let me know what you find.

Dive with Martin, in Cozumel, caters to quite a few cruisers and know what time they need to get you back to the ship. We dove with them for many years. One of the biggest advantages that they have is they include any needed dive gear as part of their fee (except a dive computer). Super helpful when you don't have your gear with you on board.

Depending on ship arrival and departure times, you might be able to get some dive time at Cozumel. As Shawn says, I have often heard about cruisers diving with DWM. The only benefit I can think of for diving with a cruise excursion is that you don't have to worry about missing either the dive boat or the ship.

Thanks bunches.was afraid of nothing available. Thought I'd ask seeing as Not too far away Cancun does Whale Sharks and Mantas

Not too far is still three hours each way, plus another one and half hours each way in the boat, plus time spent with them - meaning way more time than you'll have available off a cruise ship.
