You know that you aren't likely to encounter blizzard conditions on Cozumel, right? :)
S/he is leaving from Canada, plus could always get stuck in a US airport waiting for weather to clear. I'd want a coat on the plane in case I needed it on the way. I usually just carry cheap, pocket size packed exposure blankets for surprise needs on many trips - and I have used them on Cozumel boats (they never fold up to go in the pocket again!), but is s/he chills easily as mentioned - good call.

If you ever happen to leave behind a good jacket to a Captain or DM you may have a friend for life.
Do you really leave brand new $70 items as boat tips? o_O

Wish I could get it in red so it doesn’t look so grim reaper.
They're offered, at Amazon and other online retailers. Why didn't you?

( I can write with authority- I am married to a Canadian and my great grand mother married the son of one of the Alamo heros )

The Canadians all worship the color red-- I assume dating back to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who's dress uniform is composed of a bright red tunic.

If she were it wear that bright red coat she could pass as a Royal Canadian Mounted Police of the underwater world

Canadians like Texicans are fiercely proud of their heritage; always a Maple leaf patch sewn some where and always a Tilley hat on their head --Kinda like Texicans with their boots and 10 gallon hats.

Contrary to some popular beliefs, the vast majority of folks living in Texas do not wear boots and 10 gallon hats.

Gordon speaks for himself. I, for one, just couldn't be seen in civilized society without my Lucchese boots and my John B Stetson hat.

Whoopee tie-one-on! :D

Correction: The Tilley hat is summer attire. At this time of year we would be wearing a toque.

Sorry, eh. Had to do it. :)

I like red, too; I was asking why s/he didn't get one as they are offered. I drive a red car that replaced my red pickup when it died and try to tell car renters that I'll take any color as long as it's red. Oh, and I have a strong respect & admiration for Canadians as far as that goes.

I have a spare room dedicated to scuba gear, camping gear, and my hat collection. I don't wear the hats & boots as much as I used to - funerals mostly, we haven't run cattle since dad died, but we used to stay busy. I too old for honky-tonks and late nights, too, but those hats do have a history. As far as maple leaves go, we have those, too - different specie that's found in remanent populations from Coahuila to Vancouver. I've got a camping trip planned for June's full moon that includes time at Lost Maples State Natural Area - Wikipedia. My timing was aimed for bat flights at a couple of other state parks, and I hope I don't suffer too much tent camping as summer heat builds up. I should try to get down there again and fight the crowds when the leaves turn in the fall, but that timing is challenging to predict.

Nope, but still not uncommon - more common in certain rural counties, but I still don't attract attention when I wear mine to town - not like I did in Ireland.

On Amazon.ca, only the black and navy colours are eligible for free Prime shipping, which will arrive in 2 days (they arrived yesterday, actually). The red version would be shipped from the US, would cost CAD$35 shipping and would not arrive in time for my trip to Coz.

Amazon.ca is still behind Amazon.com in terms of variety of merchandise available, sizes, colours and even price.

You could order a red one now in time for the next trip though, all good divers have back up gear ya know! :) Hubby could 'inherit' the first one, and you score brownie points for your generosity.
