Friend of mine who no longer dives locally (only on vacation) offered me a free tank today...

An AL80, so not great for diving wet

With a Yoke valve, so need to get that replaced because Yoke can die in a fire

Last hydro'd in the 90s sometime, so need to get that done

Made of the funky alloy, so needs a eddy current test along with the hydro. Called the LDS and verified they offer that (they got snippy with me for asking)

In the end...

I would use it for decorating. That Eddy and hydro must be done every year. To expensive for an aluminum tank that I would never use

6351 tanks doesn't change the hydro schedule, that still remains 5 years.
 
That said, part of my vision for my dive future is to buy and sell used gear, and to donate usable stuff to people just getting started. I want others getting into the activity to have an easier time than i did and not feel like they have to buy everything upfront in order to get out from under the thumb of their LDS.

2 3mm wetsuits, one for pool, one for travel....
