I think it's finally the Zebras catching up. The Zebras made the water clearer which allowed the sun to penetrate deeper which allows algae to grow more "slime"

Just a thought with no scientific proof to back it. Makes sense to me though
 
I haven't noticed much of a difference - but then the visibility does vary depending on the time of year. Best I've seen has been in October.
