Visiting Swamp Diver Looking for Thanksgiving Trips

i am a diver from austin, texas looking around for a good chance to dive over my thanksgiving break with you kelp-ers. i will be visiting some family in san diego on turkey day itself, but will consider driving almost anywhere between the border & big sur in search of good visibility. where do kelp divers like to dive this time of year? i'm a sucker for invertebrates, tall kelp forests, and really enrusted wrecks ^_^ any info on temps/currents would be appreciated. thanks.

Much is written... get to the Channel Islands! Dive boats run to San Clemente or Catalina Island from S.D. While in S.D., dive "Wreck Alley" outside Mission Bay! On any Sunday, come on out to the Old Marineland site in L.A. Expect 55-65 degree water around T/G.

Excellent time of year to explore SoCal. I'm hangin' in New Mexico right now and feeling land locked:cool2: Can't wait to return to La Playa Pacifica!

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone but October/November can rock in So Cal. The water is still relatively warm (above 60f), viz is usually good and the days are not cold yet. I'd hit San Diego on Friday and do the Yukon & Ruby E. then up to a boat to Catalina on Saturday. Check out the Catalina Sticky at the top of this forum.

if i'm trying to avoid "cattle boats" with 12+ divers, what would my best options be in the area?

so, i'm scheduled right now on the nov 26th trip to the coronado islands, the nov 27th trip to the hmcs yukon & ruby e (really wish this was a 2 tank yukon dive,) and the nov 28th trip to something called "nrod" and new hope rock, all with marissa charters.

i have to admit, the third dive to nrod & new hope rock isn't that certain. i'm not terribly excited to dive it, and my flight doens't leave until 1pm nov 29th. if anyone here knows someway to dive catalina or san clemente between 12:30pm nov 27th - 1pm nov 28th, please let me know. i'd also love a chance to visit the wrigley institute!
