That is what I had in mind K. Sounds like you are having the time of your life.

Good to hear a positive winter report from Utila! I was originally hoping to be down there by june or july, but it looks like it may be november for me. I was kind of dreading the "rainy season" but I guess it's actually not all that bad.

Where are you doing your DM at?

I'm not doing a DM. Just fun diving for a month and doing a rescue course at Utilia Dive Center.

Hi guys.
Thirdly, just wondering about the difference in price when buying equiptment in Utila versus the UK. For example here a SCUBAPRO MK2+AF R295 regulator costs about GBP145 (~USD215). Any advice appreciated.

Oh, and do you guys in Utila use A-clamps or DIN fittings?

As you might have guessed i'm on a tight budget...

Thanks.

Hey I'm leaving utilia tomorrow so finally made my way down to the gear shack. Here are the regs/prices that are on display. Should give you some price points.

scuba pro mk25 S600 $643
Scuba pro R198 $216
Scubapro R295 Octopus $141.30
Cressi elipse steel MCS $310.80
Cressi Erojatore X52/AC2 $200
Cressi XS Octo $95.20

Also have heard some people complaining about the ATM, safest if you bring a card with a "visa" on it.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info kathydeee, it helps ;)

On the money side it looks like i might be in for a testing...my bank doesn't do visa cards so i'm stuck with cirrus or matercard, travellers cheques and blind luck.
never mind keeps things interesting i guess

Think the atm's accepted master cards, also it's easy to cash travellers cheques. Dive shops took them same as cash.

If you haven't found a shop yet, Utilia Dive Center has a kick ass training program. Great instructors, extensive training & lots of community. I already miss UDC.

Now I am in Roatan and will fly home tomorrow.

Good luck!

Kathy

Aye I'm deffinately going. Have my flights and course booked and ready to go! Getting more excited by the day, though the worry of getting something organisationaly butter side down is slowly seeping in...

I'll be on Utila around the 19th for about 9 weeks. alwayssummer, wen are you going, how long for?
