I have an XB30 for filling breather bottles. It works wonderfully, but it's LOUD! I used to wear full ear muffs, but that wasn’t ideal since I couldn’t hear anything else—like potential gas leaks. I reached out to USUN directly (they responded within an hour)) and they suggested either a larger muffler or venting the exhaust outside.

I had some 1/2" copper, and with $10 in fittings was able to run the exhaust into my garage attic. The difference is HUGE—at least 90% quieter, absolutely no need for hearing protection.

It made such a massive difference I thought I'd share.

Man, I wish there was something more portable to make that thing quieter. I get funny looks in the parking lot refilling my rebreather bottles. It is SOO loud.

The email I got from USUN seemed to suggest the XB30 muffler could be swapped for something like this…

This is a bit off topic, but I'd like to solicit an opinion from some USUN owners.

I have a Maximator ROB-22 booster (small, compact, 30:1 O2) that I've had for about 6 years, and probably saw 5+ years service from previous owners. I use it to fill my 14CF CCR O2 bottles and top of my 40CF Dil tanks. It's getting a bit reluctant to boost recently and I'm considering service. I'd need to send it in to MaxPro and I'm guessing it will be a minimum of $500 for what consists of new orings, cleaning and lubrication.

An alternative would be to order an XB30, which seems to have better support. DRIS sell them for about $1300 USD.

Do you have thoughts on service and support of USUN? Can you get service kits? Service manuals?

Am I better sticking with the booster I have, or replacing with USUN? I'd likely still service the ROB22, but then sell it off.
