Those US Divers snorkeling setups can also be purchased from Walmart, at least in places like Hawaii, for around $50.00. Similar package to what Costco sells. The quality is not bad, in fact for snorkeling they work great, but you will need other equipement for diving.

BTW a black skirted mask is better for snorkeling let alone diving. Put a regular mask on and turn you head sideways to the sun or a light and look at the glare on the inside of the lense.

Black skirt is a personal preference not the only way to go. I prefer clear and I don't have any problems with glare.

Since we are following each other around :)
Yes, some people feel like they get tunnel vision with a black skirt, and it is subjective. You may not have problems with glare, but it is there. Try doing what I said above and let me know what you see.

I just bought a couple of these US Divers packages from Costco. $39.95 and it includes a nice carry bag. I actually bought them for my two boys for snorkeling in Hawaii this summer. The fins come in three different sizes and Costco had all of them. The quality seems to be very good for pre-packaged snorkel gear. And, Costco has a return policy that cannot be beat - any item (except computers) can be returned for a full refund anytime, with or without the original package, no matter how long you've owned it, nor how beat up it is. I wouldn't buy this gear for scuba, but it's certainly more than pool-toy grade.

I got a US Divers snorkel package as a gift from two marine biologists after working with them (awesome stuff). It's the one that comes with the blue bag. I actually use the mask and snorkel for SCUBA, took it down as deep as 70 feet no problem. The fins are too small for SCUBA use, as you can imagine, but they're great for snorkeling. It's a great package for snorkeling, and when you're ready to learn SCUBA, you can use the mask and snorkel :14:
