Hey... quick heads-up... ask your friends... On Saturday morning October 6 (today), a man approached me in the parking lot of a LDS in Rhode Island, said he was selling off his gear. He showed me a tank, BC, reg (with computer on the console) wet suit, mask, fins, spear gun, the whole thing.... asked for $500. When I expressed "interest, but will get back to you", he took my cell number. I'm back home in NY, and he's already called me. Will call back tomorrow. This stuff sounds stolen to me... he had a grey pickup with Massachusetts plates... I did NOT get his plate number. He will call me, and I have his cell number on mine....

SO IF YOU THINK THIS IS STOLEN GEAR, AND YOU KNOW WHOSE, ACT FAST... CANTACT ME, OR HAVE THE POLICE DO IT.

I'LL CHECK BACK HERE IN THE MORNING.

If you KNOW it's yours, call me.... 914-263-9768 and tell me some details. PLEASE don't call if it's not yours!

By the way... Wetherill was outstanding!

Sounds stolen Noviz but details are needed. Brand of BC and Reg. and any known markings will help. Actually brand of anything will help as maybe there are unique brands mixed that will trigger a for sure they are stolen confirmation.

Hey guys,

What "sounds stolen"? Not trying to be argumentative but anyone that has been involved in diving in RI and SE Mass knows how popular Wetherill is for scuba diving. Perhaps he (the thief :D) is just like many people that take up our sport and find that it's not their cup of tea. Now he is stuck with a bunch of expensive new gear that some LDS convinced him that he needed and he is trying to recoup is expenses. Heck, I've thought of loading up my truck with the junk . . . er, umm . . . valuable equipment;) that I have and do not use anymore, and spend a Sunday morning at Wetherill having a "yard sale".

Maybe I'm just a schmuck wired to see the better part of humanity, but this dude could be offering a good deal for someone getting into diving.

. . . Then again, maybe he is a thief; get the noose.:11:

I felt better right up until your last line about the noose....I'm lucky I haven't been strung up already! :D

I often stick a sign in my car window advertising some gear I'm selling. Between dives, people come over and check the stuff out.

I even offer to let the other diver test-dive the gear, if they want. I'm easy to deal with....besides, a test-dive usually clinches the deal! :)

To date, that has resulted in the sales of a full Sherwood regulator set, 2 hp steel 100's, 2 hp steel 120's and miscellaneous other odds and ends. It also resulted in a swap of 2 hp 100's for 2 hp 120's and some of my cash....fair is fair after all. :D

Okay.... nobody called, I feel better. It just seemed a bit shady, and I've seen posts about stuff disappearing from Wetherill.... I'm glad it's all good.

I wish I needed th stuff, but it's gone.
