I got a new Perdix this week. ( See my post on most expensive dive regarding flooding old DC lol) It is everything you could want. I am still exploring its capabilities and operation.

When opening it there was a card inside warning that alkaline batteries could leak and cause damage. I turned it on and there was power but a low battery indicator. Opened the battery compartment and found...an old alkaline battery from the factory. My guess is that they put it in to test the unit and never removed it. A fresh EverReady battery had time expired between factory and my gear bag.

I had an alkali battery inside my perdix aswell. It was empty after 6 dives..
New battery shows 60% after 20 dives.

You can use lithium AAs if you are scared of a battery leak. Its a bit more expensive and doesnt perform well in cold water(i heared).

I am not concerned about a battery leak, just the irony of them warning you about alkaline batteries when they ship with an alkaline battery in it and they really have no idea how long it will be on the shelf before someone buys it.

Moral of the story, check for batteries as soon as you buy it. I had powered it up in the parking lot and checked on the battery as soon as I realized that there was one in it.

Hello. You made a great choice. Call them just to see what the response is.
I'd be curious.
