You know the hardened grease and rubber buildup that stops your spg from sealing

Well some toluene on a cotton bud on a stick cleans it out very nicely thanks muchly

I have owned an electroplating shop for 35 years. We use HCL to strip chrome. I'm pretty sure using HCL on a regulator would be a great way to get a new regulator for Christmas.

Did you know that rolling a car wheel over your foot is different when a car is attached to it than when it's not

I don’t really have the technical knowledge in this domain but Dr. Google tells me electroplating is different from chrome-plating. That said multiple sources also say that vinegar is bad for chrome plated brass unless diluted (and within a time limit for exposure) and so I can believe that you are right and anything more than 10% HCL would be terrible for the regs…

That harsh is it? Kinda makes sense how affine chlorine is to bonding with things

Even vinegar can be harsh btw — i left (forgot) an spg neck/thread in 1:1 kitchen vinegar/water mix and after an hour it was fully stripped of chrome and orange looking

On that note Dr. Google says phosphoric acid is safer than vinegar… (prevents stripping) anyone confirm?

Also - While I have the tech sheets for the Scubapro regulator breakdown and rebuild, I don’t recall seeing their official recommendation for cleaning solutions (as was posted for HOG earlier in this thread). Anyone??

they always refer to some "cleaning procedure" external bulletin
I could only find this (seemingly) outdated one here that includes Silicone as a lube :/

I also found this serviece bulitin in an old mk20 o2 service kit (will upload in a sec from phone), that seems more up to date

The cleaning info is in p2 of the paper scan; but I am uploading it all for completeness

Hmm the docs mention Attar-C and DOT 111/113. I dunno what it is and it’s almost 5am for me. But on the whole I must not overthink this … I must not overthink this… Zzzzzz!
