Once we get closer to the date I can check my brother's schedule. If all works out I can offer the pit up for use for the Austin area event.

That's for some serious cooking. I don't think I have seen one bigger.

Sounds like a DIVE/camp trip

:D

Some of our fine lakes are already Green ( in fact most are) so why all the fuss ?

Ok.......
Lets bring in 200 to 300 folks and, as our friend Jessie Jackson likes to
say, "TV Cameras" for the devine intervention of hope and love.
They will all drive they're cars to the place, They party and talk of peace and a world free of trash, human waist and then go collect a few old beer cans as they dive.

Shoot.. if all that makes you feel good well then by all means have at it.
Feeling good is what America is all about.
Bringing in a bunch of humans can only disrurb things from the True Green point of view.

I'll watch the thread to see where everybody goes and wait a week or two for the lakes to settle out after folks leave.

Why you crotchety old b*st*rd!

I just checked and on June 21 the moon will be in the seventh house and Jupiter will align with Mars. :D What better time to launch a statewide TSD clean up effort. I briefly considered St. Patrick's Day, since it was supposed to be green and all, but then we'd have to put up with all those Irish. :shakehead:

My personal opinion is that it would be good to clean up Texas public waterways first. Possum Kingdom hasn't been mentioned but probably needs some TLC. Same for Texoma.

I already have plans that weekend.

I know we are a Texas club and all, but we do dive Murray quite a bit, and so do many other North Texas shops.

Murray needs help. Lots of help.

I have been thinking for awhile, how can we encourage recycling at CSSP, Windy Point, etc... How could we get the shops involved to segregate trash so the recyclable aluminum cans and plastic water bottles go to recycling and not in the trash?

Just thinking out loud.

Hmm, so maybe instead of an underwater cleanup, since most of the regularly visited parks are pretty good anyway, we could launch a recycling effort. Put the word out to bag your recycleables and take them with you when you leave the park. We should have the event at the most populated parks visited by all kinds of dive shops and divers.

Bag It, Take It, Recycle It

kind of like the "Take Only Pictures Leave Only Bubbles" slogan.

We need a slogan....

Well, I'm going to weigh in on this subject.

I would never do a cleanup at CSSP.

- It is a private park, only divers go there, so if there is anything to pick up off the bottom, it should be done by the park owners that make a nice profit from the clients that dive there. Besides, divers shouldn't be leaving any trash anyway. So CSSP would be pointless to do a cleanup, unless you are just going there for the diving. I don't remember seeing any trash there anyway.

Murray is an excellent dive spot, with good facilities and a whole lot of trash. Maybe by cleaning it up we will be teaching those okies that there are round things in the park that have lids that you are supposed to actually deposit trash in. Not sure they will "get" it, but we can always hope. Plus, it's really fun to float all the tires.

All I can say is, please don't flame him. He means well. :shakehead:
He is of course only talking about non-diver okies!

Murray IS pretty dirty.

I know the Texans trash the park too, it's just more fun making fun of the Okies....

Hey, great timing. I will be on vacation that week diving around Texas. I should be headed home about that time and I would love another diving day. Just let us know where.
